The National Museum of Science and Technology
The National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm was founded in 1923. It is Sweden´s biggest museum of technology, and has a national charter to preserve our technical and industrial history as part of our cultural heritage. The operational idea is ‘to playfully and with scientific depth stimulate the interest in technology’s change in society’. The museum’s mission is ‘to make the world more understandable through reflecting technology from a contemporary perspective, with history as the starting point and the future around the corner’.
Our mission
Our mission We have developed the museum’s new website and were responsible for design, technical implementation, functional advice and training. The concept for the new design has been to ‘move The National Museum of Science and Technology to the web’ with the keywords being: inspiration, energy, playfulness and education.
The web site is developed in SiteVision. The home page has 3D navigation developed as a flash application by Bysted.

More visitors on mobiles
More visitors on mobiles The museum noticed an increase in web visits from mobile devices over a time. Mobile visitors focus on areas such as ‘Find us’, ‘Opening hours’ and ‘Current exhibitions’. Together with the museum we used an agile development process to develop a JavaScript (JQuery) and CSS solution. Content in the mobile site is dynamically loaded through Ajax. This shortens download times and makes it possible to load virtually all pages in the mobile version, one of the goals for the project. The mobile version of the site is being continually developed with new functions.

100 innovations
The 100 innovations exhibition is the largest that the National Museum of Science and Technology has ever developed. The exhibition shows the 100 most important innovations through time, voted by Swedish people. The website is interactive and allows the visitor to vote for their favourite invention.
Bysted designed the web and implemented it in Sitevision.
